Taste of Amsterdam 2015 - Review

I think it's ok to say that the food festivals in the Netherlands have really set their foot here. We have major events going on from more older ones like Tong Tong Festival in The Hague (Indonesian style) to the more newer ones like Neighbour Food Festival in Amsterdam.

My favorite ones to visit are the yearly Kwakoe festival, which has a huge offer of Surinam food and the more classy sophisticated Taste of Amsterdam. In general the most cool thing about food festivals is the fact that there is something to suit everyone's taste.

Here we are, June 4 (up to June 7), the Taste of Amsterdam has kicked-off. The weather is amazing and it looks like everybody is having a good time, the entrepreneurs are busy offering and introducing their products and the guests are wandering around with a good glass of wine or cool cocktail in their hands. And me, I am enjoying this so much!! This event is a heaven full of delicious dishes, wines and not to mention the presence of some of the Netherlands most amazing chefs.

Let's start by giving you an impression of the event. When you enter the festival -which is located at the Amstelpark in Amsterdam- you start of by seeing some smaller vendors offering wines, truffeled infused cheeses, fresh herbs, oriental spices, a true kids zone, full of sweet stuff like popcorn and these really cool looking ice creams and much more.

I was kind of blown away by the super tasty chorizo sausages by TrueTapas, they were 'grilled' on this typical pottery mini BBQ. Recipes with this sausages started to form in my mind..., that's a project which will be continued soon.

So after the 'market and kids area' you enter the heart of the festival, the bigger vendors like Famille Castel, G6 Food and Bar (a collaboration of 6 amazing restaurants) , Poffers and Oesters, AEG Taste Theater Wonderful Taste of Indonesia. Our taste buds went coco loco at the last one, it tasted like true homemade Indonesian food . It’s a pity that they don’t have a restaurant. Dear Team if you read this, please start one, your food is amazing.

There were so many great restaurants, food trucks and caterers over there way too many to try for myself. I thought I'd whet your appetite with some of these pictures and inspire you to visit the 2016 edition of this amazing food festival. Hope to see you there!
